DAYS 1 - 2 • Chengdu, CHINA---Ritz Carlton Chengdu

Explore the world’s largest and highest plateau with an average elevation of 14,000 feet. Still one of the planet’s most sought out frontiers, you will see why Tibet captivates all visitors. Begin in the gateway to Tibet, Chengdu, also home to the Giant Panda habitat. Learn about these loveable creatures on an excursion to the Panda Center. You may even have a chance to hug a panda.

DAYS 3 – 5 • Lhasa, TIBET---St. Regis Lhasa

Fly to Lhasa and take time to become acclimatized to the altitude. Lhasa is home to the Tibetan, Han, and Hui people. Visit the 7th century Potala Palace, the architectural wonder that dominates the city, which you can see from your hotel. Tour the immense Jokhang Temple, also dating from the 600’s and now the most celebrated temple in Tibet. Encounter pilgrims making their way along Barkhor Street surrounding the temple. Venture to the city outskirts to the Drepung Monastery, one of the three great teaching monasteries, and a former home to several Dalai Lamas. Continue to the Sera Monastery, dedicated to the Yellow Hat Sect of Buddhism. It is also an important monastic university, where you may have an opportunity to catch a glimpse of one of its famous debate sessions. Meals: B

DAYS 6 • Gyantse, TIBET---Nyangchu Manor House

Admire stunning mountain views on your journey to Xigatse today. You’ll cross the Kambala Pass, which at over 15,000 feet above sea level offers stupendous views of Yamdrok Lake, the most beautiful lake in Tibet. On your way through Karo La Pass you’ll stop for a chance to view the famous Mt. Noijin Kangsang glacier. In Gyantse, visit the Phalkor Monastery and the giant architectural monument of the city, Kumbum Pagoda. Meals: B

DAY 7 • Shigatse---Hilton Shigatse Hotel

The second largest city in Tibet, Shigatse is home to the celebrated Tashi Lhunpo Monastery. The monastery was built in 1447 at the time of the ﬁrst Dalai Lama and is the seat of the Panchen Lama. Meals: B

DAYS 8 - 11 • Lhasa, TIBET / Shanghai, CHINA---Ritz Carlton / Shanghai Fairmont Peace

Your journey by road to Lhasa will take you most of the day. Back in Lhasa, visit the Ganden Monastery, one of the earliest and largest monasteries of Tibet with more than 50 structures. The Ganden completes your tour of all three of the great Gelug university monasteries of Tibet. Fly to Shanghai and spend the day at leisure. Perhaps you’ll choose to relax at the hotel’s Willow Stream Spa, or take a walk along the Bund Promenade or browse the shops on Nanjing Road.
