DAYS 1 – 2  •  Bangkok, THAILAND---Peninsula Hotel

In Bangkok, travel on the picturesque Chao Phraya River, “the River of Kings” and down the Klongs (canals) of Thonburi. Observe and photograph the serene family homes and temples along the waterways which gave the city the nickname, “Venice of the East”. Visit a major riverside landmark, Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn. The shrine has a pagoda decorated with glazed ceramic pieces from top to bottom towering into the sky. Visit the Grand Palace, situated close to the bank of the Chao Phraya River. It is a perfect example of an ancient Siamese court. Also, visit Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. This carved, single piece of jadeite, is believed to have supernatural powers and is dressed in robes according to the season by the King of Thailand himself. Meals: B

DAYS 3 – 4  •  Bangkok / Chiang Rai---Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp

Fly to Chiang Rai and experience sightseeing in a unique way by travelling through the city by Tuk Tuk. Visit Wat Phra Singh and a local market. Travel to the Golden Triangle, the famed area where Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand meet. Take a boat trip along Mekong River to cross the border and see Don Sao Island in Laos. Located in a region known for poppy production but now in an “opium free zone”, visit the unique Opium museum. Drive to Mae Sai, the northern most point of Thailand, on the Thai-Myanmar border. Visit the villages of the Akha and Yao, home to two of the six hill tribes of the area. Meals: B

DAYS 5 – 9  •  Chiang Rai / Chiang Mai / Bangkok & Depart Home---137 Pillars House / Peninsula Hotel

Visit Wat Rong Khun and the Baan Pong Nam Ron Hot Spring. Travel by private car from the Golden Triangle to Chiang Mai. The most sacred temple in Chiang Mai, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is situated on top of Doi Suthep mountain. Enjoy an excursion to the Elephant Nature Park and get a briefing on the history of the rescued and orphaned elephants. Learn about the daily care of the elephants and see them interacting and playing in their natural surroundings with their own chosen herds. Enjoy a picnic lunch beside a waterfall. Day 8 return to Bangkok for an overnight prior to your departure flight on Day 9. Meals: B 2L
