DAYS 1 – 2  •  Palermo, SICILY, ITALY, Monreale ---Grand Hotel Des Palmes

On arrival in Palermo you will be met and transferred to your hotel.  Tour Palermo to see the 12th century Cathedral and Royal Palace and the exquisite Byzantine mosaics in the palace’s Palatine Chapel dating back to 1130. Visit the Opera House, the Quattro Canti, the Pretoria Fountain and the lively Ballarò Market. Drive to the 12th century Duomo of Monreale. Visit medieval coastal town of Cefalù. Take a scenic drive through the mountains of the Regional Park of Madonie to Castelbuono. Visit the Chiesa Madre and the Castle of the Prince of Ventimiglia. Meals: B, 1L

DAY 3  •  Palermo/Segesta/Erice & Agrigento---Grand Hotel Villa Athena

Visit the abandoned city of Segesta to see the majestic Doric temple and the Theatre.  Continue to Erice atop Mount San Giuliano. Walk through the cobblestone streets. See the Madrice Church and the Norman Castle. Enjoy the traditions and handicrafts of this medieval town. Meals: BL

DAY 4   •  Agrigento/Piazza Armerina & Siracusa---Grand Hotel Ortigia

Walk in the Valley of the Temples (UNESCO World Heritage Site), one of the most representative places of Greek civilization in the Mediterranean area. Visit the Temple of Hercules, the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Castor and Pollux and the wonderful Temple of Concordia.  Visit an old oil press farm where Mamma Fiorella will cook for you. Visit another UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Roman Villa del Casale. Meals: BL

DAYS 5 – 8  •  Siracusa/Ortigia/Taormina & Depart Home---Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo

Visit the Neapolis archaeological area to walk through the ruins of the ancient city of Archimedes. Tour the monolithic 16,000-seats Greek theatre. Visit the Archaeological Museum. Continue to Ortigia, the most ancient part of the Greek colony of Siracusa. See the Temple of Apollo and the Temple of Athena.

Take a tour to Mt. Etna, the highest and most active volcano in Europe. Take a cable-car up to 8,500 feet to get a fantastic view of Mt. Etna and the surrounding countryside. Visit the Gambino winery, an ancient estate located on the slopes of Mt. Etna.  Walk through Taormina’s old town and visit the 3rd century BC Ancient Theatre, the 14th century Palazzo Corvaja, the St. Nicholas Church and the public gardens. Transfer to the Catania airport for your departing flight.  Meals: B 2L
