This increasingly popular destination is the fifth largest continent and least populated.  Surrounded by the Southern Ocean, it is home to the geographic South Pole and is mostly covered by the Antarctic Ice Sheet that is an average of 1.2 miles thick.  Antarctica is governed by 30 countries, in accordance with the 1959 Antarctic Treaty System.  Tourism, fishing and research are the main activities in and around Antarctica.  On a visit to the seventh continent, you can expect to see various species of penguins, seals and seabirds like albatrosses.  Ten cetaceans may be found

One of two landlocked countries in South America, Paraguay is bordered by Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia and it has ports on the Paraguay and Parana Rivers that flow into the Atlantic Ocean.  Its indigenous Guarani people had been living in eastern Paraguay for over 1000 years before the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors in the 16th century.  Jesuit missions created settlements for Guarani populations to protect them from slavery and they thrived for 150 years until the Jesuits were expelled by the Spanish Crown in 1767.  Most of the population are of mixed European and indigenous heritage and speak Guarani in addition to Spanish.  The fusion of two cultures and traditions is expressed in its arts, music and gastronomy.

Home to six ecoregions, Paraguay has excellent natural wonders in addition to its cultural and historical attractions.  The Chaco region has two wildlife reserves that people visit from across the world to see its rare wildlife, including jaguars, tapir, giant anteater, and night monkey and over 500 species of native birds.  Iguazu Falls sits on the border of Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil and can easily be visited while in Paraguay.

The team at Lakani World Tours has been arranging journeys to Paraguay for decades and will create an inspiring trip with accommodations and activities suited to you.  Whether your interests lie in natural wonders, architecture, adventure or cultural attractions, you can rely on Lakani to provide a memorable experience.  Please contact Lakani for suggestions.
