DAYS 1 – 2  •  Muscat, OMAN---The Chedi Hotel

Arrive Muscat International Airport where you are met and assisted with Oman Visa and Immigration formalities and transferred to your luxury hotel.  The capital and most populated city of Oman is also the largest city in the Arabian Peninsula and lies on the Arabian Sea with the Hajar Mountains as a backdrop.  Discover the highlights of Muscat on a tour that includes its architectural jewel, the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the waterfront Corniche, colorful Muttrah souq and Bait Al Zubair Museum, with an extensive collection of ancient weapons, household items and costumes.  Later, enjoy a sunset cruise on a private dhow. Meals: B

DAYS 3, 4 & 5  •  Muscat/Jabal Akhdar---Anantara Resort

Depart Muscat aboard a 4WD vehicle and drive to Wadi Bani Auf through sedimentary mountains with dramatic canyon views.  Stop and explore Balad Sayt, one of the Oman’s most quaint villages with terrace farming and traditional houses.  Continue to the mountainside village of Jabal Akhdar and one the world’s highest resorts at 6500 feet elevation.  Bask in the cooler climate in your Deluxe Canyon View room with private balcony overlooking stunning views.

Visit three iconic Omani villages of Al Aqr, Al Ayn and Ash Shirayjah and learn about their farming practices and way of life from a local Omani mountain Guru.

Embark on a full-day tour to Nizwa, the capital city of the interior and birthplace of Islam in Oman.  See the renowned 17th century Round Tower Fort, designed to withstand the vibrations of 24 cannons.  Stop for a look at the Nizwa bazaar.  Continue to Bahla Fort, an UNESCO World Heritage Site and a fine example of a fortified oasis from the medieval Islamic period; visit an Oman castle; and stop at Al Hamra’s old clay houses before returning to your resort. DAY 6  •  Jabal Akhdar/Wahiba Sands---Canvas Club Camp

Travel into the Omani desert, also known as the Wahiba Sands.  Experience the desert in all its glory with dunes rising up to 650 feet.  The ever-changing patterns of the dunes make for fantastic photography.  An oasis in the desert is where your camp welcomes you for a magical night under the stars. DAYS 7 & 8  •  Muscat & Depart---Ritz Carlton Al Bustan Palace

After breakfast, depart by 4WD vehicle to Muscat, stopping en route in Sur to visit a dhow factory and take a swim at Fins Beach.  Leave Oman with fond memories as you depart for the airport by private vehicle for your homeward or onward bound flight. Meals: B
