Netherlands or Holland is a small country with much to offer. The traditional flowers, windmills and wooden shoes can still be found but there are also seaside towns, modern metropolises, museums and cuisine to discover.

One of Europe’s true jewels, with its Golden Age canals bordered by slender gabled buildings and arched bridges, Amsterdam is renowned for everything from exceptional art, architecture, to restaurants and innovative design. Some of the must-see sights of Amsterdam include the Rijksmuseum, which is home to arguably the greatest collection of Dutch masters in the world. Among the collection are 20 works by Rembrandt, including The Night Watch. Another stop not to be missed is the Anne Frank House. Made famous by worldwide events during World War II, the Anne Frank House is where Anne and her family hid during the Nazi occupation. The Unesco World Heritage-Canal Ring is a way to experience the city by water, either by day or at night when the city’s twinkling lights are reflected in the canal ripples.

The Hague is the seat of government of the Netherlands, famous for being the permanent home of the United Nations’ International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration. The Hague is situated on a coastal plain with the city center just inland from the North Sea. Its name recalls the hunting lodge of the Counts of Holland, located in a woodland area called “Haghe” or “hedge”. Within The Hague in the Plein and Grote Markt squares are an abundance of great restaurants, and internationally renowned art and culture.

Delft enjoys a worldwide reputation due to its connection with Johannes Vermeer, Delft Blue earthenware and the Royal House. Relive its glorious past as you wander along canals, churches, and museums. Find out how the world famous Delft Blue earthenware is produced at Royal Delft, the factory that has been producing the hand-painted motifs since the 16thcentury.

A popular day trip from Amsterdam, Zaanse Schans will take you back in time as you visit the historical windmill, experience a clog making demonstration, and sample some delicious cheeses made in the traditional manner.
