Arrive in Kathmandu where you will be met and transferred to your luxury hotel, and begin your tour in the unique and fascinating capital of the Royal Kingdom of Nepal. It is a deeply spiritual land isolated by the Himalayas. Embark on a full day tour of Kathmandu to include Bhaktapur City -“the city of Devotees and Culture”, Swayambhunath Stupa, which is said to be 2000 years old, and Kathmandu Durbar Square with its array of temples overlooked by the Hanuman Dhoka and the ancient place of the Nepalese Royalty.One of the must-see landmarks of Nepal is of course the highest peak in the world – Mount Everest. March 29 & 30 • Thimphu, Bhutan -- Pemako Hotel
This morning board your flight to the magical Kingdom of Bhutan. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel in Thimphu, the capital and largest city in Bhutan. The culture of Bhutan is fully reflected in Thimphu’s literature, religion, customs and national dress code, the monastic practices of the monasteries.Visit the National Memorial Chorten, built in 1974 in the memory of the third king Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, who was regarded as Father of Modern Bhutan. It serves as an important place of worship for Thimphu residents. Continue to Tashichho Dzong, a medieval fortress, and the Institute of Zorig Chusum, known as School of arts and crafts, and the textile museum.
March 31 & April 01 • Punakha, Bhutan -- &Beyond Punakha River Lodge
Drive to Punakha enroute stopping at Dochu LaPass to visit the 108 stupas built to hoor the fallen Bhutanese soldiers. After a lunch stop, visit Punakha Dzong, constructed in 1637 for a view of the Khamsum Yuelley Namgyel Temple.Next morning visit the Khamsum Yuelley Namgyel Chorten which was recently built by her Majesty the Queen Ashi Tshering Yangdon for the protection of the country and the king. In the afternoon drive to visit the Lhakhang Nunnery.
April 02 & 03 • Paro, Bhutan -- COMO Uma Paro
Drive through the high mountain countryside to Paro, enroute visit the incredible cultural collections at the National Museum. Also visit the Bhutanese farmhouse which are very colorful, decorative and traditionally built without the use of a single nail.The next day drive to Ramthankha, hike to the sacred and awe-inspiring Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) a jewel overlooking the Paro Valley. Enjoy a lesson in archery, the national sport, and experience a blessing by the Chief Monk at Kyichu Lhakhang Temple. Delight in a colorful Bhutanese Folk Dance performance.
April 04 & 05 • Kathmandu, Nepal & Depart Home -- Dwarika's Hotel
Return to Kathmandu today for an afternoon at leisure and some personal pursuits. Bid farewell to your newfound friends before your return back home the next day.
