DAYS 1 – 2 • Yangon, MYANMAR---The Strand Hotel

Spend some peaceful time with local pilgrims on the platform of the Shwedagon Pagoda. The pagoda is gilded from base to spire with more than 60 tons of gold plate and rises elegantly 326 vertical feet above its marbled platform. Tour Yangon’s tree-shaded boulevards and see Buddhist stupas peeking out above the treetops. See the Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda and the Bogyoke Aung San Market. Meals: B

DAYS 3 – 5 • Yangon / Inle Lake---Inle Princess Resort

Fly to Heho and travel by car and boat to Inle Lake. Visit the Pindaya Caves, a pilgrimage site containing more than 8,000 Buddha images. Journey on an open-air long-tail boat to your hotel and see the way of life for the Intha people. Meals: B

DAY 6 • Inle Lake / Mandalay---Rupar Mandalar Resort

Fly to Mandalay, the last Royal capital of Burma and see the Shwenandaw Monastery, a true masterpiece of 19th century woodcarving. Continue on to Mandalay Palace and see Kuthodaw Pagoda, and its 729 marble slabs of Buddhist scriptures. Attend a gold leaf hammering workshop. Meals: B

DAYS 7 – 8 • Mandalay / Bagan---Tharabar Gate Hotel

Visit the Bagan Archaeological Zone to see Shwezigon, a prototype of Myanmar stupa. Known for its 13th century mural paintings, see Gubyaukgyi Temple for the finest stucco carvings in Myanmar, and continue with a visit to Htilominlo Temple. One of the most massive temples in Bagan, stroll around the grounds of Dhammayangyi Temple, and watch the sunset from the terrace. Meals: B

DAYS 9 – 10 • Bagan / Yangon & Depart Home---The Strand Hotel

Return to Yangon, where you will have an opportunity to visit a local school. On Day 10 return home or move on to your next destination with many fond memories of this region. Meals: B
