DAYS 1 – 3  •  Tokyo, JAPAN / Nikko---Peninsula Hotel

Ancient cultures look to the future blending invention, tradition and simplicity, which are trademarks of this graceful country.

Arrive Tokyo where you will have an opportunity to tour the Imperial Palace Plaza, the residence of Japan’s Imperial Family. It is located on the former site of Edo Castle, in a large park area surrounded by moats and massive stone walls. Get some shopping done at the Ginza Shopping District and the Nakamise shopping arcade. For more cultural heritage, see the Meiji Shrine, the Asakusa Kannon Temple and the Edo Tokyo Museum.

A full day excursion to Nikko includes the Toshogu Shrine with Yomeimon Gate, Futaarasan Shrine, Kegon Waterfall and Lake Chuzenji. The temples, shrines and their natural surroundings have earned UNESCO World Heritage status. Meals: B

DAY 4  •  Tokyo / Kamakura / Hakone---Gora Kadan

Drive to Hakone visiting Kamakura en route to see the bronze Great Buddha, Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and the Shonan Pacific Coast. In Hakone, enjoy a cruise on placid Lake Ashi and experience the gondola ride across Owakudani Boiling Valley. Spend the night in a deluxe ryokan. Meals: B, 1D

DAYS 5 – 8  •  Kyoto / Nara & Depart Home---Ritz Carlton Hotel

Travel to Kyoto via the famous bullet train. Visit the Kinkakuji Temple, the Rock Garden of Ryoanji Temple, and the Nijo Shogun Castle. Experience a Tea Ceremony in a private home and learn the tradition of wearing a Kimono with Obi, and the art of Calligraphy writing. Travel to Osaka via Nara and visit the cultural sites of the Todaiji Temple with the Great wooden Buddha, Deer Park, the Kasuga-taisha Shrine, and the Horyuji Temple.  On day 8 transfer to the airport in Osaka for your departure flight.
