Situated at the extreme northwestern point of North America, Alaska is the largest US State. Its area is more than Texas, California and Montana combined; however, the population is among the lowest at less than 750,000. Bordering Canada, the Bering Strait, and the Arctic and Pacific Oceans, Alaska was inhabited by various indigenous populations for thousands of years before it was settled by Russians in the 18th century. As Russia was unable to control the territory so far from its capital, it sold Alaska to the USA in 1867 and in 1959 it became the 49th State of the United States. The indigenous population accounts for more than 15 percent of Alaskans with almost two dozen native languages spoken. There are many islands in the state, as well as volcanoes, millions of lakes, over 188,000 square miles of marshlands and permafrost, and glaciers.  More than half of the land is federally owned, including numerous national forests, national parks, and wildlife refuges. Alaska’s rich heritage, history, wildlife, and unrivaled landscape makes it particularly appealing to visitors of all ages.

There are a multitude of spectacular adventures to behold in Alaska, and Lakani World Tours will create the itinerary best suited to your interests and schedule.  Five regions make up the state: Arctic, where the sun doesn’t set for over two months of the year and where you can be one of the few to cross the arctic circle; Interior, home to Denali National Park, forests teeming with wildlife, Fairbanks with rich Alaska Native and gold rush history in museums and cultural centers, and excellent for Northern Lights sightings in winter; Inside Passage, stretching 500 miles along the Pacific Ocean, it has stunning scenery with wildlife-filled fjords, tidewater glaciers and majestic mountainous forests; Southcentral, traditional lands of the Athabascan people and home to Anchorage, Kenai Peninsula, Prince William Sound, and has the benefit of remote wilderness that is easily accessible; and Southwest Alaska, with diverse landscapes, brown bears of Katmai National Park, the Aleutian, Pribilof and Kodiak Islands.
