Tour Cologne, one of the oldest cities in Germany, from which the scented perfume, Eau de Cologne, originates. Discover its landmarks, including Romanesque Churches, the old Jewish Quarter, and the famous medieval Cathedral – now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a drive to the nearby city of Bonn, birthplace of Beethoven, and visit the Beethoven House which contains an extensive collection of the composer’s exhibits.
After lunch, cross the border into the Netherlands to visit Maastricht, the oldest city in the Netherlands. See the most important landmarks: St. Servatius Bridge or Basilica of Our Lady and hidden gems of the beautiful Medieval city, from ancient Roman ruins to picturesque cobblestone streets and bustling squares.
Step aboard a private yacht for a glorious day of cruising to the marine national park of the Maddalena Archipelago with stops at the pink sandy beach of Spiaggia Rosa to enjoy some snorkeling.
Visit Porto Cervo and admire the yachts in the beautiful marina and stroll the Piazzetta or small square with its discreet and quaint alleyways.
Take an excursion into the mountains to the famous Rila Monastery and explore its museum, church and refectory. Observe the large stork nests atop chimneys in the small village of Kocherinovo on the way back to Sofia.
Explore the incredible monuments of the Silk Road city of Samarkand, including three beautiful madrasahs in Registan Square – Sherdor, Ulugbek and Tilla Kori. Visit a calligraphist’s studio to see his fine works. Continue to the Bibi-Khanym Mosque, from the 15th century and discover its story. Look at the nearby Siyob Bazaar, once the venue of a Silk Road market. After lunch, tour the Afrasiab Museum, Ulugbek’s Observatory and the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis with its magnificent tilework. Enjoy a private folkloric show and admire the illuminated madrasahs.
Next day drive via Takhtakaracha pass to Shakhrisabz, birthplace of Tamerlane. The ancient city is an UNESCO World Heritage Site for its impressive monuments from the Timurid dynasty. See the Ak-Saray Palace ruins, Dorut Tilovat, Kok Gumbaz Mosque and mausoleum complex Dorus Saodat. After lunch, return to Samarkand for some leisure time.
A morning tour of Bodrum includes Bodrum Castle along with a visit to the Museum of Underwater Archaeology which is within the precincts of the museum and is part of Bodrum Castle; continue our drive to see the historic windmills, the ruins of Myndos Gate and Antique Theatre. Enjoy a sunset cruise by a private yacht (gulet) viewing the castle and town from a distance before disembarking at the marina. Then visit the night bazaar for a taste of the Old Bodrum before dinner.
