You will be thrilled with your daily game drives in search of the “Big 5” and you will also have an opportunity to do some walking excursions, as well as boating and birding.
Experience the ultimate in luxury camping, not only with the magnificent wildlife, but also the unique opportunity for photography. Not only by day, but with limited light interference you can explore the vast night sky and its stunning constellations.
Serengeti is also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th worldwide wonder; the Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe and thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle. The spectacular of predator versus prey dominates Tanzania’s greatest park. Golden-maned lion prides feast on the abundance of plain grazers.
During your early morning hot air balloon safari, you’ll find yourself gently floating over the plains and above the forest and river, checking out hippos, crocodiles and elephants from high above before landing for a sumptuous champagne breakfast. Game viewing in the Serengeti is quite different from South Africa.
Explore the area on guided walks, nature drives, and by quad-bikes. View San rock paintings and petrified dunes. Discover Sesriem Canyon and Dead Vlei on excursions. Float above the spectacular dunes in a helicopter to see the various hues from orange to terra cotta that tower over the vast, dry pan. Join the resident astronomer for an evening of unforgettable stargazing at the state-of-the-art observatory.
Your orientation to the “Mother City” begins with a drive through the Malay Quarter with its narrow cobbled streets. Continue to Government Avenue and view the Houses of Parliament and the City Hall on the Grand Parade. Discover Table Mountain, the landmark of the city. Weather permitting; ascend the mountain by a private aerial cable car to view the city from a height of 3,500 feet. This is the prime vantage point from where one can see Table Bay below as well as Robben Island, the Atlantic Seaboard and the spectacular Cape Peninsula.
Next morning (weather permitting) enjoy a scenic helicopter flight to the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Here you will be taken to the best vantage point to view what is erroneously said to be the meeting place of two mighty oceans.
Enjoy lunch at a restaurant situated in the Cape of Good Hope Reserve. Return to Cape Town on a scenic drive, stopping to visit an African penguin colony at Boulders Beach.
Friday your delightful drive winds its way to the heart of the Cape Winelands, through superb mountain ranges, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads. Stellenbosch is the heart of the South African wine industry, boasting great beauty and culture that is steeped in South African history. After a pleasant stroll through the town center, explore Stellenbosch in a unique way, by a vintage World War II sidecar. Travel to one of Stellenbosch’s finest wineries for a private wine tasting. Continue by sidecar to another wine estate where the artistry of its chefs and winemakers compliment the breathtaking beauty of its setting. Enjoy a lavish lunch at the estate before returning to Cape Town this afternoon.
This evening bid farewell to your fellow travelers at a cocktail and dinner party.
