Copenhagen, DENMARK-May 19 – 20, 2016 — We departed Iceland quickly and efficiently from the private airport via our Lineage luxury private jet enjoying a gourmet lunch in spacious surroundings en route to Copenhagen. On arrival in Copenhagen we were whisked past the usual airport bustle to our waiting coach and on to Hotel D’Angleterre to settle in to our suites.
We headed out a bit later for our introduction to the city. We stood in the square of the Amalienborg Palace, which is always packed with locals whenever the Royal Family makes a balcony appearance. Although they were not in sight we felt their presence just being here. We then continued our visit to other highlights of the city including the iconic Little Mermaid, which is a sculpture displayed on a rock by the waterside of the Langelinie promenade. Enjoying great weather while touring the canals and harbor on a specially built canal boat, we learned a different perspective of the architecture and acquired a sense of everyday life along the canals. We ended up a Tivoli Gardens, an oasis in the city, enjoying the beauty and a pantomime show in the open air theater. Part of Tivoli Gardens’ secret is that there is something for everyone. The scenery is beautiful with exotic architecture, historic buildings and lush gardens. At night, thousands of colored lights create a fairy tale atmosphere that is completely unique. It is the second most popular seasonal theme park in the world… We concluded our day at nearby Nimb Brasserie with a wonderful dinner.
On our second day we visited Rosenborg Palace which houses the Royal Collections such as the crown jewels, royal porcelains and other royal regalia; some say rivaling the crown jewel collection of Britain. After enjoying the magnificent collections, we continued touring the city enroute to our lunch at the world famous Two Michelin-star NOMA Restaurant, which is run by chef Rene Redzepi. The meal was a creative taste experience – 15 courses served by an army of smart young chefs, who came in and out of our beautiful private dining room, each time giving a full explanation of what we were going to eat. Quite a memorable meal for all. After lunch we split into 3 groups for excursions to Carlsberg Brewery or Christiansborg Palace with some members opting to head further out of town to an open air sculpture museum. The afternoon excursions were followed by a dine by choice evening. It’s time to depart Copenhagen in the morning, again via our private jet, to continue our adventure and see what wonderful discoveries await us!
