Hong Kong & Macau – March 10 – 13
Lakani’s Around the World Private Jet Tour has begun in Hong Kong. Joined by new and familiar friends of Lakani we are happy to be Jet Cruising again. All were welcomed at a great reception in the China Clipper Lounge at The Peninsula. The lounge is a private dining area and small museum featuring exhibits of early aviation and the original air cruisers or flying boats; the great Clipper Jets of the early days of air touring. We had lunch with a great view of Victoria Harbour and enjoyed a performance of the Chinese art of Change Face.
Our private double-decker antique tram on Hong Kong Island provided a great vantage point to begin our explorations. Traversing the Central District, the tram’s upper deck provided detailed views of the old city that are missed from street level.
Venturing across the South China Sea by ferry to Macau in our private Reserved Class seating we explored the Historic Center (UNESCO World Heritage listed) to gain insight into the city’s history. Sites such as the Na Tcha Temple in the shadow of the Ruins of St. Paul’s, which was the site of the principal Jesuit construction in the region, the Church of Mater Dei and St. Paul’s College show the blending of the Portuguese culture with the ancient culture of the area.
The 1100 ft. Macau Tower opened in December 2001, inspired by Auckland’s Sky Tower; as with many of these towers there is an observation deck for panoramic views but also an activity deck where the brave bungee jump, walk in harness on a track around the outside of the deck or climb the tower to get that adrenaline rush. Lunch and the over the top casino architecture completed our day before we headed back to our private ferry section to return to Kowloon.
Our ascent up Victoria Peak by private funicular tram car produced more panoramic views, this time of the city skyline, immense harbor and mainland China beyond the mountains. Lunch was enjoyed in the Central District before everyone headed out with their private cars and guides to explore more of their specific interests in the city, be it sightseeing or shopping.
Departing Hong Kong we board our Private Jet to cruise through the skies to Kuala Lumpur in high style, comfort and luxury. The adventure has just begun…
